Internet Sem Limites Programme

This is an online volunteer programme. Sem Limites is Portuguese which simply means without limit in English. Under this volunteering model, SAFOD will seek to offer the platform on which the volunteers/interns themselves can enhance their learning, online.

Using the Internet, volunteers will be provided with the opportunity to contribute by sharing and utilizing their knowledge and skills that will impact communities, especially persons with disabilities in the countries where SAFOD operates.

It doesn't matter which part of the world you are in! With the World Wide Web (www), one can still volunteer with SAFOD to bring some positive changes in our society, especially in the lives of persons with disabilities in the region.

Internet technologies are influencing our lifestyles and impacting an increasing number of functions in our lives. In this virtual world everything is possible. By joining the Internet community, one can contribute massively by share and utilizing their knowledge and skills that will impact communities elsewhere. At the same time, SAFOD seeks to offer the platform on which the volunteers/interns themselves can enhance their learning, virtually.

That is how the idea of on-line volunteerism - or what computer techies call ‘cyber volunteerism’ - was hatched. So under the On-line Volunteer programme, SAFOD will be keen to promote the meaningful use of modern information technologies, particularly Internet, for knowledge sharing and volunteer work. SAFOD will seeks to benefit from the skills that the prospective volunteers already have wherever they may be, for example, to mobilize resources, to carry out an on-line campaign, to document issues on-line, to translate SAFOD web pages into Portuguese and other key languages, just to mention a few examples of the work that the online volunteers will be expected to undertake.

Whichever way the volunteer may be involved, the key aspect will be to ensure that that they do not need to be physically available at the SAFOD Secretariat and/or at the office/location of any of its national affiliates. They may work from home in the comfort of their bedrooms; or from their college library, and from the Internet café.
